Lanzarote Beaches

Contrary to popular belief the beaches of Lanzarote are not all black volcanic sand. There are a variety of beautiful beaches around the island.

White sandy beaches to the North of Puerto Del Carmen, black sandy beaches at Playa Quemada.

Playa Chica

Numerous beaches in the area running from Arrecife airport, Guacimeta, down to the old town of Puerto Del Carmen.

South of the Island near the resort of Playa Blanca lies the best beach of all, Papagayo.

For surfing the beaches of Famara and La Santa are recommended, famous for its surf.

La Santa is a training ground for international sports stars and surrounded by a beach and Wind Surfing lake.

North of the island, near Orsola has a number of white sandy beaches. The main beach here is Las Cucharas and is famous for windsurfing.

Arrecife, Lanzarote's capital, has a golden beach, El Reducto.
